13 - Abram and Lot
I. Abram's and Lot travel together - v.1-4
A. Abram, Sarai and Lot went up from Egypt to the South - v.1
B. Abram was very rich in cattle, gold and silver - v.2
C. They came to Bethel where he had previously built an altar - v.4
II. The Strife - v.5-13
A. The herdsmen of Lot and Abram had strife because the land was not able to bear them -
v.6-7
B. The Canaanite and Perizzite dwelt in the land also - v.7
1. Abram said to Lot let there be no strife for we are brethren - v.8
2. Abram told Lot to chose the area he wanted and to separate himself - v.9
3. Lot wanted the plain of Jordan because it was well watered as was the garden of the Lord and Egypt -
v.10-12
4. Sodom and Gomorrah were there - v.10
5. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah were wicked and sinners - v.13
6. Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain and Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan -
v.12
III. Abram moves to Hebron - v.14-18
A. So Abram and Lot were separated - v.14
B. God's promise - v.14-17
1. God told Abram to look to the north, south, east and west - v.14
2. God said all the land Abram could see was his and his seed forever - v.15
3. God said he would make his seed like the dust - v.16
4. God told him to arise and walk through the land - v.17
C. Abram moved to the plain of Mamre, which is Hebron, where he built an altar -
v.18
