Some
Excuses Given for
Engaging in Premarital Sexual Activity
All kinds of excuses are offered for engaging is premarital sexual activity. For example some say:
"Everybody does it."
First of all, not everybody does it. But even if that were the case, that would not make it right. God told the Israelites,
"Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil" (Ex
23:2).
If all your friends decide to jump out a third story window, are you going to follow them?
We need to learn to stand on our own two feet -- we must not allow our friends to dictate our actions. Let's be leaders, not a followers.
Besides look around at your friends and classmates, how many of them have messed up their lives by having a child out of wedlock?
Still others say, "We love each other" or "We plan to get married."
I don't mean to insult anyone, but let's be honest with ourselves -- most of the time (especially on the part of guys), it's not love, it's lust -- pure and simple animal lust!
Hormones are very powerful (you will not appreciate or understand how powerful they are until you are older and married).
But even if you do love each other, this in no way justifies the sin of fornication.
Girls, if he really loves you, he won't ask you to sleep with him or engage in other sinful activities. Guys, if you really love her, you will not ask her to engage in acts of fornication. True love is not based on sexual satisfaction or pleasure. If you really love one another, wait till you are married.
"We don't actually have sex". Somewhere along the way we have come up with the idea that as long as we don't actually engage in intercourse, we have not sinned.
Consequently, young people engage in everything up to and including oral sex and then act as though they have done nothing wrong. Believe me young people, such activities are wrong!
Petting, necking and fondling are wrong because they are designed to stimulate and to lead up to sexual intercourse.
Let it be clearly understood Christian young people have no business parking and petting (or necking), because such is sinful. God alone knows how many couples have gotten into trouble engaging in foreplay (that's all parking and petting are). They didn't intend to go all the way and commit fornication, but passions became aroused and before they knew it things were out of control. Parking and petting are like playing with a loaded revolver -- extremely dangerous!
