4. DEFINITION

Shield = Thureos - formerly meant a stone for closing the entrance of a cave, then a shield, large and oblong, protecting every part of the soldier. Vine, W.E.

The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures.

g. Faith is the victory

We tread the road the saints above with shouts of triumph trod. By faith they, like whirlwind's breath, Swept on o'er every field; The faith by which they conquered death is still our shining shield.

h. O Worship the king

O Worship the King, all glorious above, And gratefully sing His wonderful love; Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days, Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

i. What a Friend We Have in Jesus

Are we weak and heavy laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge; Take it to the Lord in prayer: Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer; In His arms He'll take and shield thee; Thou wilt find a solace there.
