John 3 Discussion and Fill in the Blank

Nicodemus is introduced (vv. 1-2).

Nicodemus:
A man of the ___________________.
A ruler of the ______________.

He came to Jesus by night.
He knows Jesus is a teacher come from God because of the miracles that He does.

Born Again (vv.3-8).

Except a man be ________  ________, he cannot ______ the kingdom of God. (v.3).

Except a man be born of ________ and of the ________, he cannot______ into the kingdom of God (v.5).

That which is born of the ________ is ________; and that which is born of the ________ is ________ (v.6).

Jesus compares one who is born of the Spirit to wind blowing. You can hear it but you can't tell from whence it comes or whither it goes (v.8).

Further Explanation (vv.9-21).

When Nicodemus says, "How can these things be?" Jesus answers, "Art thou a ____________ of Israel and knowest not these things?" (v.9).

Jesus said, "We ___________ that we do ____________ and ____________ that we have ___________." (v.11)

Jesus tells Nicodemus that no man ascendeth up to heaven but he that came down from heaven, even the son of man which is in heaven." (v.13).

Jesus compares His being lifted up to the lifting up of the serpent in the wilderness by Moses (v.14).

"He that believeth on him is not _____________: but he that believeth not is condemned __________, because he hath not believed in the name of _____________________________." (v.18).

And this is the condemnation:
• That light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light.
• Because their deeds were evil. (v.19).

He that doeth evil:
• Hates the light.
• Neither cometh to the light.
• Lest his deeds should be reproved. (v.20).

He that doeth truth:
• Comes to the light.
• That his deeds may be manifest, that they are wrought of God. (v.21).

Jesus and John the Baptist Baptize (vv.22-23).

After talking to Nicodemus, Jesus and His disciples go into the land of Judaea.
While there he tarries with His disciples and baptized.

John was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim.
Because there was much water there. (v.23).

John the Baptist speaks of Christ (vv. 24-36).

John's disciples tell him that the one to whom he bore witness was baptizing and all men come to him. (v.26).

A man can receive __________, except it be given him from _______________. (v.27).

John says that the one who has the bride is the bridegroom.

The friend of the bridegroom:
• Standeth and heareth him.
• Rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice.(v.29).

He must ______________, but I must _______________. (v.30).

He that cometh from heaven is ____________ _________. (v.31).

Christ testified what He had ____________ and _____________ (v.32).
