Draw encouragement from the fact that God can provide for all of our needs.
Text: Matthew
15:32-39.
Introduction.
1. The Gospels contain a mere outline of the life of Christ (John
21:25).
2. Therefore, the things that we are told must be there for a good reason.
3. Whenever we read a story about Jesus, we ought to ask ourselves why we are
being told this.
5. What can we learn from this account?
Body.
I. Jesus was a very compassionate man (Matthew
15:32).
A. He saw the needs of those around Him and felt pity for them.
1. Compassion -> to be moved as to one's inwards.
2. He worried for their well being.
a. Physical.
B. We ought to follow in His steps
(1 Peter
2:21).
1. Are we moved to our inwards when we see others in need (1 John
3:17-18)?
2. Do we have our eyes open in order to see the needs of those
around us?
C. God has always demanded that His people take care of those who can't
help themselves.
1. Physical.
2. Spiritual.
II. The Doubting Disciples (Matthew
15:33)
A. The disciples did not believe it was possible to feed such a great number
of people.
B. How often do we limit God by what we perceive as impossible? (James
1:5-9)
3. With persecutions or trials that we are going through (1
Corinthians 10:13).
D. Let us never doubt God!
2. It shows a lack of memory and thankfulness.
III. Christ filled them up!
A. He did a lot with a little.
1. With 7 loaves and a few fishes he fed well over 4000 people.
2. Christ has no limits on the things He can accomplish.
B. He provides us with more spiritual blessings than we can ever fully
fathom. (Ephesians
1:3).
1. Salvation.
C. He provides us with great physical blessings as well.
1. Let Christ use us to feed thousands (John
21:15-17).
a. Food.
b. Shelter.
c. Clothing.
D. He can use people that don't seem likely.
E. Let us not limit God!
1. "What a Friend We Have In Jesus"
Conclusion.
1. Christ was compassionate. We should follow His steps.
2. His disciples doubted.
3. Christ exceeded all their expectations.
4. Christ can do great things with your life if you'll let Him.
5. Offer invitation.
