Introduction.
A. This psalm is God's proclamation of His reigning.
B. Revelation 19:6 makes this same claim. This time it is one of victory.
C. Revelation 21:14-15 shows the importance of this claim.
D. Psalm 93 shows the justification for this claim.
Body.
I. He is described as being clothed with Majesty and strength. (v.1a)
A. Symbols of His ability to fight for His honor and His people.
D. Other "god's" may have the appearance but not the power.
E. He has the right to reign.
II. He is described as the creator. (v.1b)
D. He has the right to reign.
III. His duration is described. (v.2)
C. He has the right to reign.
IV. His might is described. (v.3-4)
A. The flood is used as a figurative expression of the enemies of God's people.
B. Flood waters can cause great disaster and so can evil nations but God is mightier than both.
C. He has the right to reign.
V. His testimonies are described. (v.5a)
A. Testimonies is a clear reference to the Bible.
B. Sure is defined as: "to be firm, stable, such as one may safely lean upon". (Wilson OT Studies)
C. What could be a desirable trait for the one reigning to have?
D. He has the right to reign.
Conclusion.
1. A simple and humble statement of praise ends this psalm. (v.5b)
2. What powerful and moving psalm that should humble and strengthen us to face Satan in our everyday lives.
3. We serve a God who has the right to reign and He loves us!!
