I was recently asked the question above. How to answer such a question? The real question is whether religions other than Christianity are acceptable to God. So what about religions other than Christianity?
In essence, what they do is reject Jesus as the savior and son of God. What is the result of that? Jesus said to Thomas in John 14:6, "...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Notice that He said THE way, not A way! God says that we must come to him through his son, that is, by Christianity.
The response that I got was, "That seems unloving to me".
If there was another way to remove our sin, that separates us from God, would a loving God have sent his Son to die for us? God is loving. The offer of grace is made to all! 2nd Peter 3:9 instructs us, "The Lord... is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
However, God is also just. We have to accept the grace that God offers in the way that he told us. In fact, if we don't accept His grace His way, but try and find another way, we are rejecting His grace. So I ask, what will we do?
Having once accepted God's grace, are we still accepting it today? As Christians, are we continuing to accept God's grace by maintaining our fellowship with Him? I John 1:6-7 says, "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin"
Or are we rejecting God and His grace by loving the world? I John 2:15 says, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
Back to the Jews. What do you think?Jesus said in John 12:48, "He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day." That applies to all religions, including the Jews. Do the Jews accept Jesus and receive His words or reject Jesus and His words?
But never mind the Jews! More importantly, what about ourselves?Shouldn't we take the beam out of our own eye (Luke 6:41-42) and see where we stand with God before we worry about other groups of people? II John 1:9 warns that, "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son." What are we doing? Are we abiding in the doctrine of Christ, having both the Father and the Son?
Accept or Reject - A decision that each of us makes every day, and is making right now.Can we help you to accept and abide in the Grace of God?
