Sue felt good inside as she shared the knowledge of the unadvertised
sale with her friends. After all hadn’t Solomon charged us to "Not
withhold good from those who desire it" (Proverbs
3:27).
She wanted them all to be a part of such a good deal. Tom knew
just how she felt. He could not wait to tell Jack how fast his
calves were growing on the new feed. Jack was almost like a
brother to him. Sue and Jack had something else in common besides
being blessed with good friends. You see, both of them were
Christians and their best friends weren’t.
Isn’t it strange how we are so anxious to share all kinds of news
except the "good news"? We will give those we love
everything down to the shirt off our back until it comes to the one
thing they can’t do without. Blessings of births, promotions and
health are heralded from the housetops while news of redemption is kept
strangely silent.
Consider the following suggestions:
- Select the person you feel closest to.
- Pray that God will give you the courage to talk to them.
- Pray for the wisdom to approach them in a loving way.
- Pray that God might help open their heart.
How can I face my friends in the judgment
having withheld the good
news from them?
