Women preachers have become very popular today.
Turn on the TV and you can watch them on almost every religious program.
However, the question of women preachers, like all others, must be answered from
what the Bible says, not how we view things or how the world views things.
Times
change, cultures change, but God’s word does not change. It is always the same
(Matt.
24:35). What was right and wrong in the first century is right and wrong
today.
When one questions the authority of an inspired writer, he will never know
the will of God on any matter. But, we want to know God’s will on all
matters,
especially this one.
|
The Bible is clear and plain on this subject. Heaven’s directive on the
matter is this: "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But
I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in
silence" (I Tim. 2:10,
11).
A woman is forbidden to teach over a man or
in any other way, exercise authority over a man when it comes to the public
services of the church. For example, men are allowed to pray everywhere (I Tim.
2:8), but a woman cannot pray everywhere. For example, she cannot pray in the
presence of a man. Another passage reads, "Let your women keep silence
in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are
commanded to be under obedience...for it is a shame for women to speak in the
church" (I Cor.
14:34,35). What more would God have to say to convince
us? |
Where then is the Bible authority for the women preachers of today? There is
none! They are condemned by God.
Jesus was a male, so were the twelve apostles and the seventy. An elder or
deacon cannot be a woman (I Tim.
3:2,11). A wife must be in subjection to her
husband (Eph.
5:22-24).
Every principle of scripture shows that women are not
allowed to have authority over men in spiritual matters. Like it or not, this is
what God says.
I can’t help that I’m a man anymore than a woman can help that she’s a
woman.
We each must simply accept the roles God has given.
|
The wise man Solomon said,
"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her
price is far above rubies?" (Prov.
31:10).
Godly mothers can shape their
children to be the hope of the world.
If you are a woman, take great courage in
the station God has given you and fulfill that role.
