"I said therefore
unto you, that ye shall die in your sins:
for if ye believe not that I am, ye
shall die in your sins"
(John
8:24).
These words were uttered by Jesus nearly 2,000 years ago but are still just
as pertinent to us today as they were to those to whom He spoke. What is it that
Jesus is telling us that we must believe?
It has been accurately said that Jesus was either a Lord, a
Liar, or a Lunatic.
When you think about it, that statement is exactly correct. The fact that he
claimed to be the Son of God cannot be disputed; "Therefore the Jews sought
the more to kill him, because he had not only broken the Sabbath, but said also
that God was his Father, making himself equal with God." (John
5:18). Now either, he was telling the truth and that makes Him our Lord,
or he was lying which makes him a liar, or he was simply incorrect which
makes him a Lunatic. Which is it? This is a vitally important question
because if He is the Son of God, we had better believe in Him (John
8:24).
We can know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God because He
rose from the dead;
"Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle,
separated unto the gospel of God. (Which he had promised afore by his prophets
in the holy scriptures,) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was
made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of
God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from
the dead:" (Romans
1:1-4). There can be no doubt that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. There is
simply too much evidence that He did just that. There is more evidence for
Christ’s resurrection than there is for the existence of George Washington!
Since He is the Son of God; what does that mean for us?
It means that we now must make Him our Lord, or master, as well. "And
why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke
6:46). Christ loved us enough to give up heaven. He came to earth in order
to die as the perfect sacrifice for our sins and all He asks in return is our
obedience to Him.
Do you really believe in Christ?
Have you made Him your Lord? Why not do that
today? Please see Plan
